On May 16, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with the seminar participants from the delegation of young Kenyan diplomats. The seminar is hosted by the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry and organized by the China Diplomatic Academy.

Chen Xiaodong welcomed the delegation of young Kenyan diplomats, and pointed out that Kenya is China’s important partner in Africa, as well as an active participant in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). It is hoped that Kenyan diplomats will get a deeper understanding of China through this visit, and inherit and carry forward China-Kenya traditional friendship to push bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for greater development.

The Kenyan side thanked the Chinese side for its long-term help to Kenya’s economic and social development, and expressed that Kenya will continue to stay committed to developing Kenya-China relations, and actively participate in the joint construction of the BRI and FOCAC affairs. The Kenyan side expects to learn China’s experience to boost its own development.
